ABOUT THE CONTEST

The Celluloid Social Club and William F. White International Inc. are proud to announce the launch of the 8th Annual Hot Shot Shorts Contest for 2016.

The purpose of the Contest is to provide sponsorship and monetary support to an exceptional local short film script that might not otherwise have the opportunity to be made into a film. The Contest was founded by Ed Brando (William F. White International Inc.), Paul Armstrong (Celluloid Social Club), Aaron Houston (‘Sunflower Hour’) & Scott Campbell.

CONTEST DETAILS

Submit a script up to 12 pages in standard script format.

Initial judging is based solely on the merits of the script and its film-ability with the contest’s resources. At this stage there is no need to package the film.

From the entries, 5 scripts will be selected to be read at a special Cold Reading Series event in late August.

The writers will then form a team of key crew (mandatory) and cast (optional as winner receives casting session) and then pitch the film to a panel of judges.

One winner will be announced in September. The winning film will be provided with approximately $20,000 worth of sponsored services and $6,500 in sponsorship cash plus 90% of Contest entry fees.

Production will take place over 2-3 days early in 2017 with post completed by May 2017 in time to submit to the Toronto and Vancouver International Festivals.
