HOT SHOT SHORTS CONTEST
Based on an idea by Ed Brando, The Hot Shot Shorts Contest was founded in 2006 by Paul Armstrong and Aaron Houston of the Celluloid Social Club and Ed Brando at William F. White. The Celluloid Social Club operated the competition with support from Ed Brando at William F. White from 2007 to 2018, with seven short films being made with one team per session receiving cash and resources to make their film.

BLOODSHOTS CANADA 48 HOUR HORROR FILMMAKING CHALLENGE CONTEST
In association with Kier-La Janisse, the Celluloid Social Club operated the BLOODSHOTS 48-HOUR HORROR FILMMAKING CHALLENGE for four years from 2009-2012 helping to make hundreds of short horror films, including ones by the sisters Jen Soska and Sylvia Soska and with actors such as Jodelle Ferland and sisters Joyce Robbins and Jackie Robbins. Through Kier-La’s connections to the Horror world, she was able to attach many legendary Celebrity Judges including Dan O’Bannon (ALIEN, TOTAL RECALL), Uwe Boll (POSTAL), George A. Romero (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD), Joe Dante (THE HOWLING), Laurence T. Fessenden (WENDIGO).
VANCOUVER 24 HOUR FILM RACE
From 2009 to 2012 the Celluloid Social Club operated the Vancouver 24 Hour Film Race in which teams had 24 hours to make a short film followed by a theatrical screening of the film and after party. Over the four years hundreds of films were made by local filmmakers. The Film Race took place all over North America with the winner in each city going onto the finals in the USA.
